Hyunmi Yang Wins Student Paper

Hyunmi Yang (supervisor Prof. Brent Lindquist) has won the student paper competition awarded at the International Nonwovens Technical Conference, Sept. 25-28, 2000, Dallas TX; sponsored by the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) and the International Nonwovens and Disposables Association (INDA). The title of her paper is "A Geometric Analysis on 3D Fiber Networks from High Resolution Images".

Hyunmi's award consisted of a cash prize and a certificate, as well as travel expenses for the conference

Jessica Mancuso Wins Student Paper

Jessica Mancuso (supervisor Prof. Hongshik Ahn ) has been selected as the recipient of the Van Ryzin Award and travel prize for the BEST paper submitted to the International Biometric Society's Eastern North American Region (ENAR) Student Award Program for the 2001 Spring Meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina. The title of her paper is "Order-Restricted Dose-Related Trend Tests With an Age Adjustment". The selection process was as follows: Up to 20 award winners are selected by a review committee chaired by the 1999 ENAR Past President. All travel award winners receive a certificate, reimbursement for travel expenses, tuition for the short course of their choice and an invitation to the President's Reception. Once travel awards have been determined, the committee selects the best manuscript, whose author will receive an additional cash prize and the John Van Ryzin Award. The Student Awards Committee Chair mentioned in the letter that this year's papers were especially competitive.
