Segmented Data

The data is stored in a bit-packed format. In its segmented form, the data is treated as unsigned characters with values of either ``0'' or ``1''. As 8 bits is more information than is needed, this file contains the binary data stored as 8 voxels per byte (character). The binary header is comprised of the following:

• nx (integer) horizontal dimension of data set
• ny (integer) vertical dimension of data set
• bnxy (integer) number of bit-packed characters in the data file
• resid (integer) number of left over bits from last character
