Output Graphics Data

For `normal' workstation usage, 3dma outputs xy-plots in Jgraph format, and 2 dimensional images in sun rasterfile format. When plotting three dimensional images, the following output formats ar currently available:

Jgraph files
These files are ascii command files for the jgraph plotting sytem. Jgraph is a program that process command files and generates Postscript output that can be viewed using ghostview or another Postscript viewing program. Encapsulated Postscript output can also be generated for reports. 3DMA uses Jgraph output for illustrating statistical quantities such as the burn number distribution, shortest paths distribution, CT histograms, disconnected pore volume distribution, and 2-Point covariance function. Please see the URL
http://www.cs.utk.edu/plank/plank/jgraph/jgraph.html
for more information and the latest version of jgraph. As the Jgraph command files are ASCII, it should be noted that the relevant data may be easily extracted using a text editor and saved for viewing using other data plotting programs.

The following command will display the output files using ghostview

jgraph -P OUTPUT.FILE | ghostview -
The ``-'' at the end is important as this indicates to ghostview that the PostScript source is coming from STDIN.

SUN raster files
These files are graphics files useful for viewing the unprocessed and processed tomography data. The format adheres to the SUN raster specification which encorporates a colormap and 8 bit resolution. These images may be viewed using any image file viewer such as XV for UNIX. 3DMA uses the SUN raster file format to display images of the nonsegmented tomographic data, segmented data, burn number data, and medial axis data.
