The computation of the distribution of volumes of disconnected objects of the same phase (type) is one of the important statistics computed on a segmented image. Two algorithms are produced for this purpose, one based upon an erosion algorithm which produces the distributions for each of the two phases in the segmented image simultaneously, and an older, tree-based search which produces the distribution for a single phase only.
