Figuring out the functions of organs in our body has been amusing scientists for generations. A human kidney consists of one million or so nephrons, which work essentially in parallel. Recently, we managed to simulated 2000 nephrons simultaneously, much less than a million but far more than 30, a typical upper limit before our 1994 study [H. Wang, et al, Int. J. Comp. & Math.,28 (5) (1994) 1-12]. |
