SYLLABUS: This is a course on the theory and applications of
Linear Algebra.
Topics: Vectors Spaces, Matrices, Systems of Equations, Determinants,
Inner Products, Eigenvectors, and various linear algebra applications.
There will be two mid-term exam (20 points each) plus a final exam (40 points). Homework is graded and accounts for another 20 points. Homeworks are collected every Thursday and will not be accepted after being discussed on the blackboard except by special arrangement with me at the time the assignment is made.
You may discuss homework problem with other students taking the course, with TA, and with instructor. But the work you turn in should always be your own write-up. No late homework, unless you have a very good reason. Please make certain that you writing is neat and clear, and that you have expressed your reasoning, not just the final answer.
If you have a physical, psychological, medical or learning disability that may impact on your ability to carry out assigned course work, I would urge that you contact the staff in the Disabled Student Services office (DSS), Room 133, Humanities, 632-6748v/TDD. DSS will review your concerns and determine with you what accommodations are necessary and appropriate. All information and documentation of disability are confidential.
